Microsurgical Sperm Extraction
When it comes to sperm retrieval, we use two different procedures at the Center for Men’s Health at TUCC: Microsurgical Epididymis Sperm Aspiration (MESA) and Testicular Sperm Extraction (TESE) (TESE). Microsurgical sperm extraction provides surgeons with more agility when retrieving sperm from small parts of the body. Our staff conducts microsurgical sperm extractions in a specialised operating room suite at the Urology Surgery Center of Colorado, which takes around one hour. Recovery takes just a few days, and problems are quite uncommon.

When it comes to guys with vassal or epididymal blockages, MESA is the procedure to go for. To expose the testicles and epididymis, an incision is created in the scrotal skin, and the testicles are removed. A single epididymal tubule will be opened under the guidance of an operating microscope to retrieve the sperm. With MESA, surgeons may extract enormous quantities of sperm, which can then be preserved and utilised in future fertility cycles.

Vas Deferens Blockage
This minimises the need for further treatments in the future and decreases the amount of epididymal damage that may occur. In addition to sperm extraction, many men who have this procedure may also be candidates for a reconstructive epididy movasostomy (connection of the vas deferens and epididymis to bypass a blockage). Using the combined methods of sperm extraction and surgical operation, the chance of sperm emerging in the ejaculate is increased significantly.

TESE is similar to MESA in that it solely affects the testicles (testicle). First, your TUCC physician will make a tiny incision to expose the testicles in the groyne. Because of this, the sperm may be evaluated very instantly. Only tiny regions of mature sperm may be present in the testis of males who have extremely restricted sperm production. Before any sperm are retrieved, a meticulous dissection is conducted under an operating microscope to locate these locations.
